The Real Goal Recognize that a furnace outage, a kitchen remodel, and a pest problem don’t belong on the same question path — and stop treating them like they do.
Ask This, Not That
Ask “What do you need help with today?” first — not launch into a fixed script that assumes every caller wants the same kind of appointment. If the answer is “no cooling,” ask “Is the system completely off, or still running but not cooling?” — not move straight to scheduling without knowing if this is urgent or routine. If the answer is “remodel,” ask “Which rooms, and are you still in the planning stage or ready for estimates?” — not treat it identically to an emergency repair call.
The Follow-Through Conditional questions branch based on the service — cooling issues, roofing estimates, and remodels each pull in different follow-up questions, which keeps the call shorter by making irrelevant questions disappear entirely. Sales and service should be identified early enough that nobody ends up booked with the wrong team.
Skip This If Skip logistics questions (gate codes, tenant access, parking) until the service type is confirmed — asking about site access for a phone consultation that never requires a visit just wastes the caller’s patience.
